Munich, April 30, 2025 – Big changes are afoot at FC Bayern Basketball! The six-time German champions are revamping their leadership structure, paving the way for a new era. Marko Pesic, the driving force behind Bayern’s rise to a European powerhouse since taking over as CEO in 2013, will step down from his operational role on January 1, 2026. The 48-year-old will stay on as an advisor to the club.
Starting July 2025, Dragan Tarlac (Sporting Director) and Adrian Sarmiento (Chief Strategy Officer) will join the executive board, taking full operational control from 2026. Pesic will ensure a smooth transition, guiding the duo with his expertise.
“Marko has transformed FC Bayern Basketball into one of Europe’s most professional clubs,” praises President Herbert Hainer. From securing a EuroLeague spot to modernizing the BMW Park and moving into the state-of-the-art SAP Garden, Pesic leaves a lasting legacy. Tarlac, a former Olympian and EuroLeague champion, and Sarmiento, a strategic mastermind, are set to build on this foundation.
“After much reflection, it’s time for others to take the reins,” Pesic says. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to shape this incredible club.”
