FC Bayern München secured a hard-fought 90-86 victory over Telekom Baskets Bonn on Thursday evening (Q1: 23-22, Q2: 24-24, Q3: 21-17, Q4: 18-27). The Bayern, led by an outstanding Niels Giffey, took control in the final quarter to solidify their position at the top of the table.
Giffey, enjoying a second youth at 33, was the Player of the Game, leading Bayern with an estimated 18 points—a promising sign for the playoffs. Andreas Obst (14 points), Johannes Voigtmann (9), and Ivan Kharchenkov (6) provided support. For Bonn, Sam Griesel played solidly (5 points), with Christian Pape also contributing positively. Bayern missed Nick Weiler-Babb (paternity leave) and Carsen Edwards (injured), but their bench depth made the difference.
Bonn battled until the end but couldn’t match Bayern’s 27-18 fourth quarter. Next games: Bonn faces SYNTAINICS MBC on Sunday (4:30 PM), while Bayern hosts Ludwigsburg.
