Cavs Crush Heat in Game 4 Sweep, Advance to Eastern Conference Semifinals

In a jaw-dropping display of dominance, the Cleveland Cavaliers obliterated the Miami Heat 138-83 in Game 4 on April 28, 2025, completing a first-round NBA playoff sweep at Miami’s Kaseya Center. This 55-point rout, the fourth-largest margin in NBA playoff history, handed the Heat their worst postseason loss ever and solidified the Cavs as serious title contenders.

Despite missing All-Star Darius Garland (out with a toe sprain), the Cavaliers showcased their depth and firepower. De’Andre Hunter led with 18 points by halftime, while Donovan Mitchell (13 points, three assists), Jarrett Allen (12 points, 11 rebounds, six steals), and Evan Mobley (10 points, five rebounds) overwhelmed Miami early, building a 63-23 lead by the second quarter. The Heat struggled, with Tyler Herro shooting a dismal 1-for-8 and posting a -36 plus-minus in the first half.
The Cavs controlled the series from start to finish:
  • Game 1: 121-100 win, powered by Mitchell, Ty Jerome, and Garland’s 85 combined points.
  • Game 2: 121-112 victory, with Mitchell (30 points) and Mobley (20 points) fending off a Heat comeback.
  • Game 3: 124-87 blowout, as Max Strus (18 points) and Hunter (21 points) filled Garland’s absence.
Cleveland’s average margin of victory was a staggering 33.5 points per 100 possessions, making them the only Eastern Conference team to sweep their first-round series. With Evan Mobley’s Defensive Player of the Year award and a balanced roster firing on all cylinders, the Cavs now await the winner of the Pacers-Bucks series in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
