The EuroLeague transfer market hinges on Vasilije Micić’s imminent decision, with the Phoenix Suns expected to release the 31-year-old Serbian playmaker by June 29, 2025, as reported by Telesport on June 22.

Olympiacos has emerged as the frontrunner, offering a €12M, three-year deal (€4M per season), outbidding Crvena Zvezda’s €10M three-year proposal and shifting the league’s dynamics after weeks of speculation.

Shift from Crvena Zvezda Favoritism

Initially, Crvena Zvezda leveraged Micić’s youth ties and a €10M offer, while Fenerbahce and Olympiacos vied closely, with Hapoel Tel Aviv fading due to regional conflicts.

Micić’s NBA stint (6.8 points, 3.9 assists over 101 games) suggested a return below his €4.5M target, but Olympiacos’ superior bid—bolstered by retaining Nikola Milutinov and signing Tyson Ward—has tilted the scales.

Tactical and Roster Implications

Olympiacos’ aggressive pursuit, potentially adding Antonios Karagiannis, contrasts with Crvena Zvezda’s earlier lead, reflecting a strategic overhaul. Micić’s playmaking (evident in his Efes titles) could elevate Olympiacos’ title hopes.
