According to Chema de Lucas on X, Dubai BC has finalized a two-year deal with Canadian center Mfiondu Kabengele on May 29, 2025, locking in the 27-year-old for their roster. The 2.06-meter big man, previously linked to Real Madrid, joins Dubai BC as they push for EuroLeague entry, with a critical expansion vote happening today to potentially include them in the 2025-26 season.

Kabengele’s EuroLeague Potential

Kabengele, who last played for Umana Reyer Venezia in Italy’s LBA Serie A, brings size and experience, having set career highs in the G-League with 21 rebounds in 2023 and 4 steals in 2020, per Proballers. His addition strengthens Dubai BC’s frontcourt alongside targets like McKinley Wright, as reported by Sportando. Kabengele’s versatility could make him a key piece if Dubai BC secures a EuroLeague spot, competing against Europe’s elite.

EuroLeague Vote Looms Large

Today’s EuroLeague vote, which could expand the league to 20 teams, is pivotal for Dubai BC, a leading candidate alongside teams like Virtus Bologna, per Eurohoops. The club’s aggressive recruitment, including Kabengele and earlier targets like Aleksa Avramović, reflects their ambition to leverage Middle Eastern investment in European sports. A successful vote would mark a historic step for Dubai BC and the league’s global reach.
