Joventut Badalona has parted ways with two key players from its roster; 25-year-old Devon Dotson and 31-year-old Kassius Robertson. While both players had a standout season, none will make the jump to Euroleague.
Crucial losses for Joventut
Firstly, the leading scorer Kassius Robertson will sign with Russian Lokomotiv Kuban. The Canadian player led the Catalan team in scoring this ACB season, averaging an impressive 14.6 points per game, while shooting 40.6% from beyond the arc. Additionally, the floor general Devon Dotson has signed with Istanbul-based Besiktas. The American ball-handler has proven himself as a solid player in both the ACB and the EuroCup. In the domestic league he averaged 13.1 points, 4.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds, while in the European second-tier competition he recorded an average of 14.6 PIR and 13.7 ppg.
Huge challenges ahead of the next season
Joventut comes from a promising season, reaching the quarter-finals of both the ACB and the Copa del Rey. Despite the disappointing season in EuroCup, Joventut’s strong domestic performance in the first year of Dani Miret’s tenure has sparked hope for a promising long-term project under the local head coach. Nevertheless, with the confirmed departure of Dotson and Robertson, the retirement of Joventut legend Pau Ribas, as well as rumours of possible exit of Yanick Kraag, Sam Dekker and Artem Pustovyi, this summer will be key for the success of Daniel Miret’s project.
