MLP Academics Heidelberg secured a thrilling 84-75 overtime victory against the SKYLINERS in the easyCredit BBL regular season. The SKYLINERS took an early lead, scoring 23-14 in the first quarter, but Heidelberg battled back to trail 32-36 at halftime. After a competitive third quarter (42-53), Heidelberg surged in the fourth (29-18) and dominated overtime 13-4, showcasing resilience and home-court advantage at the SNP Dome to seal the win.
Heidelberg’s head coach Danny Jansson praised his team’s perseverance and the fans: “It was close. Frankfurt made it tough since we couldn’t prepare properly, and we started terribly. But we finally got stops and had some luck to force overtime.” SKYLINERS coach Klaus Perwas, despite the loss, was proud of his team: “We struggle in closing phases, and we need to fix that. I’m satisfied with my guys, though. Heidelberg believed until the end—I wish them luck in the playoffs.”
This win propels Heidelberg into the BBL playoffs with momentum, ready to compete in the knockout rounds. The SKYLINERS, meanwhile, head into the offseason, aiming to improve their late-game execution for next season.
