According to Buzz Sport sources close to the club from Berlin, big man David McCormack is nearing a one-year contract with Crvena Zvezda for the 2025-26 season, aiming to continue his EuroLeague career after ALBA Berlin’s departure to the Basketball Champions League (BCL). The 26-year-old American center, previously with ALBA Berlin, is set to replace the injured Joel Bolomboy, who led the EuroLeague in rebounding this season with 8.1 per game.
Filling Bolomboy’s Shoes
McCormack, standing at 2.08m, averaged 1.0 point per game in limited minutes (6:19 average) across six EuroLeague games with Olimpia Milano in 2024-25, per EuroLeague.net. However, his earlier stints showed promise, posting 9.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in the 2022-23 Turkish League with Besiktas, and 13.2 points with Galatasaray in the BCL. His size and rebounding could help Zvezda maintain their frontcourt strength as they also pursue Stefan Miljenović, per Sport Klub.
EuroLeague Ambitions
With Crvena Zvezda securing a three-year EuroLeague license alongside teams like Valencia Basket, McCormack’s addition aligns with their goal to remain competitive in the expanded 20-team league. ALBA’s exit to the BCL opens opportunities for players like McCormack to stay in the EuroLeague, and fans are eager to see how he adapts to Bolomboy’s role in Belgrade.
