AS Monaco is making waves in the European basketball scene with a bold move to sign 34-year-old forward Nikola Mirotic, according to insider Chema de Lucas. The Ligue 1 side is reportedly offering the former EuroLeague MVP a three-year contract, aiming to bolster their roster with the seasoned star.
Mirotic, currently with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, holds a player option for the 2025-26 season, which could see him enter free agency and consider Monaco’s proposal. During the 2023-24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season, the Podgorica native showcased his elite skills, averaging 17.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks across 30 starts under coach Ettore Messina. Despite his efforts, Milan’s 17-17 record fell short of a playoff spot.
A veteran of Europe’s premier competition, Mirotic has previously starred for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, while also logging 359 NBA games with the Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, and New Orleans Pelicans. In the ongoing 2024-25 Italian LBA UnipolSai season, he’s contributing 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.7 steals per game, helping Milan secure a 19-9 record, placing them fifth with two games left before the playoffs.
