AS Monaco is preparing a two-year contract extension for Elie Okobo, per Buzz Sport sources, following Mike James’ suspension and confirmed departure this summer. Initially set to let Okobo go and target Nadir Hifi, Monaco’s plans changed after Hifi opted to stay with Paris Basketball (Story).

Roster Changes Drive Decision

With James, a key player, leaving and Hifi likely remaining in Paris, Monaco is pivoting to retain Okobo. Meanwhile, Partizan is keen to sign him, planning a backcourt overhaul with Iffe Lundberg and Frank Ntilikina exiting, and Duane Washington’s future uncertain.

Okobo’s Recent Performances

Okobo showcased his value in the French League semifinals Game 4 against ASVEL with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. However, he struggled in the finals Game 1 loss to Paris Basketball (1-0 series deficit), managing 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 9 assists, overshadowed by TJ Shorts.

Future Decision Looms

Okobo has yet to decide, with his choice likely post-French League Finals. Monaco hopes his experience (averaging 14.2 points in 2024/25 EuroLeague) will stabilize their backcourt, while Partizan offers a fresh challenge, leaving fans awaiting his next move.
