
Alonzo Verge, a 26-year-old American combo guard, has signed a one-year contract with RASTA Vechta for the 2025-26 easyCredit BBL season. The Chicago native, who impressed as the top scorer in Turkey’s second division with Balıkesir BŞB, brings his scoring prowess to the Bundesliga side, marking a significant step in their roster planning.
Standout Performances Across Leagues
In the 2024-25 season, Verge averaged 28.3 points, 10.7 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.8 steals in 32 games for Balıkesir, earning the league’s best scorer title. His late-season stint with Club Básquet Coruña in Spain yielded 11.7 points and 4.3 assists in three games, showcasing his adaptability across competitive leagues.
Tactical Fit for Vechta’s Backcourt
Sport director Gerrit Kersten-Thiele praises Verge’s versatility, noting his ability to play both guard positions and add dynamism alongside Tommy Kuhse. His defensive skills and playmaking, honed through stints in Poland, Greece, and Kosovo, are expected to enhance Vechta’s strategy under new head coach Christian Held, who starts on August 1.
