Jasiel Rivero has committed to a two-year contract with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, departing Maccabi Tel Aviv after his contract expired this summer, as first anticipated by MeridianSport. The 31-year-old Cuban center, previously under Yanis Sfairopoulos, will earn €2.1M and anchor Zvezda’s frontcourt.

Rivero averaged 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 22 minutes per game in the 2024-25 EuroLeague, and 9.3 points with 4.4 rebounds in 19 minutes in the Israeli League, despite a season-ending injury that left the league without a champion.
Revival Plans with Sfairopoulos at Helm
At 2.06 m, Rivero’s scoring and rebounding skills strengthen Zvezda’s lineup, which faced setbacks with playoff losses to Budućnost and Spartak Subotica in domestic leagues and a EuroLeague play-in exit to Bayern Munich. Sfairopoulos’ continued leadership targets a resurgence with this signing.
